Retiring from the military can be a daunting experience for many veterans, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. To help ease the burden on our country's military community, WalletHub conducted an analysis of the 50 states and the District of Columbia to determine which ones offer the best conditions for a comfortable military retirement. Kentucky is an excellent choice for military retirees. The state offers great tax benefits and plenty of job opportunities for veterans.
Additionally, there are numerous VA health centers in Kentucky that provide quality care for retired service members. Our analysis used a data set of 29 key metrics, ranging from veterans per capita to the number of VA health centers and job opportunities for veterans. Each metric was rated on a 100-point scale, and a score of 100 represents the most favorable conditions for military retirees. For metrics marked with an asterisk (*), we measured the “number of veterans” by the square root of the veteran population to avoid overcompensating for small differences between states, taking into account that Veterans Administration (VA) centers have not increased in proportion to the number of veterans.
In conclusion, Kentucky is an ideal place for military retirees. Additionally, there are numerous VA health centers in Kentucky that provide quality care for retired service members.
